We aim to give every child a broad and balanced curriculum, across Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, as required by National Curriculum legislation. We try to provide a variety of experiences that we hope will enable our children to appreciate the world around them, and fit them for life in the 21st Century.

Subjects regularly taught in school are made up of our core curriculum of English, Mathematics and Science plus foundation subjects including ICT, geography, history, music, art, design technology, PE and games.  The school follows 'Letters and Sounds' to teach phonics.

Copies of the National Curriculum and themed topic work are available to view in school. Parents are regularly informed of their children’s current areas of study via the class newsletter. Please speak to your child's class teacher if you would like more information.

Religious education

R.E. is taught in each class. We follow the guidelines suggested by NYCC. Children are encouraged to show tolerance and understanding of major world faiths.

Under the 1993 Act parents may withdraw their children from all or part of RE and collective worship.  If parents are considering this it is recommended that they first contact the Headteacher.

Collective Worship follows the teachings of the Church of England, as appropriate to the age and abilities of our children.  We have regular Collective Worship led by Reverend Andy Bowden and visitors from our local church and Methodist chapel.
